Can I skip meals?
Skipping a meal probably wasn't a big deal for you before you developed diabetes. You might have been a little hungry, but you felt fine until the next meal came around. But when you have diabetes, skipping a meal can create a challenge. Your blood glucose level dips down in between meals, and rises back up after you eat. Your insulin prevents your blood glucose from getting too high. When you skip a meal, your blood glucose continues to drop. If you take your insulin but haven't had a meal in the last four to six hours, it can lead to a dangerous low.
