Why is oatmeal heart-healthy?

Oatmeal provides nutrients and keeps you full until lunchtime -- and it can also reduce your risk of heart disease. Oatmeal is packed with soluble fibre, which reduces the amount of cholesterol that gets absorbed into your intestines. It forms a gel and sweeps the cholesterol out of your body. Experts recommend adults consume between 26 and 35 grams of fibre every day, but most Canadians have only one quarter of that.
